I was here in 1967, I don’t recognize anything, dispite the fact that in the old city not much has changed. Iwent to the bull fight ring, I took an audio tour complete with videos. As a 22 year old, reliving Hemingway, the bullfight was an amazing spectacle, a dance with death. It has lost its luster, although the final killing is no worse than the slaughterhouse, the lead up is probably torture for the bull. I probably couldnt watch one now. This is my most alone day, my pilgrim friends have moved on. I will need to make new ones tomorrow. However I am getting much more spanish practice.

I love the instructions for pilgrims! We are all pilgrims, but perhaps not on a walk-about.
Thanks for the lovely posts. I am really enjoying being included in your journey.

Post a picture of people walking. Does the number vary by day? I don’t have a sense of how many people are around. The scenery looks beautiful though!
It is hard to tell, you run into the same people over and over again and the english speakers form a club, I think about 400 people arrived in Roncavalles the day i did. 279 stayed at the monestary but a bunch couldnt find room tbere. Howvevwr on the trail you usually cant see anyone, at popular stopping places there are lines of 3-10 people.
